about

released on the now-defunct Feel Records (thank you, guys!).

The Meter Glows was recorded 2001-2002 in Yeadon, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. We used an old PC running Sonic Foundry Vegas software, no mic preamps (save what was in our Mona Echo interface), and our best mic was a $300 condensor.

National Eye itself emerged in these recordings, from what had formerly been known as The Project Project - the name of our group in college.

Most of the songs were begun on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder, then transferred into the computer for overdubs and effects.

We went up to Chinatown, NYC to mix the record with the amazing Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Papercuts, etc etc). Just spending a couple days with him and watching him work taught us maybe more than recording the whole album had.
